Any employee contributing to an EPF account can easily check the EPF balance of their account through different channels. They need not wait for the end of the year or for an employer to share their EPF statement to know their balance. EPFO balance check can be done through the following channels such as SMS, missed call, EPFO portal and Umang application
By Sending an SMS
One of the common EPFO balance check is done through SMS. You should register your UAN with EPFO to check the details of your EPF balance and latest EPF contribution via an SMS. You can receive EPF details in ten languages – English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Punjabi and Bengali. Follow the steps below to receive the EPF details:
- Type a message “ EPFOHO UAN ENG ”. Here, “ENG” refers to the first three characters of the preferred language. If you prefer receiving the message in Marathi, then type “EPFOHO UAN MAR.”
- Send an SMS to 7738299899
- EPFO will send the details of the member and EPF balance
By Giving a Missed Call
You can also make an EPFO balance check by giving a missed call from your registered mobile number. You can avail of this service by integrating your UAN (Universal Account Number) with your KYC details. Once you have integrated, follow the steps below to receive the EPF details:
- From the employees’ registered mobile number, give a missed call to 9966044425.
- You will receive an SMS with your EPF details.
Through EPFO Portal
UAN (Universal Account Number) is an important and unique identification number provided for all employees who are enrolled under the EPF scheme. Only once the UAN is provided for the employer during the entire working time, they change or quit their employment irrespective of the companies. To view your EPF balance, the UAN of an employee should be activated. Once you activate, follow the steps below to receive the EPF details:
- Visit Employment Provident Fund Organisation, India, website
- From the dashboard tab, choose ‘Services.’
- Select “For Employees” from the drop-down menu
- A new page opens. Click the ‘Member passbook’ option under ‘Service.’
- A new login page will appear. Enter your UAN number and password
- Your EPF details will appear, and click the ‘ Download Passbook’ option to print the passbook
Using Umang application
Now, EPFO balance check and EPF withdrawl can be availed through Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) application. The UMANG app can be downloaded from the Google play store or Apple app store. Besides checking the EPF balance, this app allows you to file claims. Employees must complete one-time registration with a registered mobile number to use the app. Once registration is completed, follow the steps below to receive the EPF details:
- From Google Play Store or App Store, download the UMANG app.
- From the ‘All Services’ tab, select the ‘EPFO’ option
- Under ‘Employee Centric Service’, choose the ‘ View Passbook.’
- Your EPF details will appear, and click the ‘ Download Passbook’ option to print the passbook
Check EPF Balance without Registered Mobile Number
Any employee contributing to the EPF scheme can check their account balance without their registered mobile number. They only require UAN and password to log in and view their EPF status. Follow the simple steps below to receive the EPF details:
- Visit ‘PF passbook portal website’ and log in with your UAN and password
- Select the PF account and click ‘view PF Passbook Old: Full.’
- Now, your PF account’s total employee and employer balances are displayed, and the pension balance can also be checked in the last column.
- Click on the ‘view passbook (new: yearly)’ option to check yearly contributions.
